Home Based Care (H.B.C) Children programme Water and Sanitation Sustainable Agriculture Environmental Conservation Teaching in the local schools Behavior Change Communication The HIV epidemic is currently the leading of death in Africa. The local community in Kenya still do believe that the virus is caused as a result of breaking taboos. Many people infected still do not know how to prevent infection, and even very few people know how to deal with the virus once they have it.
Due to poverty syndrome that has escalated the nation, people often avoid attending health facilities because they don't have something to pay from their own pockets and because of this reason, most of the people encounter premature death as a result of depression and inability to take care of themselves.
This is an excellent
opportunity for volunteers to assist the social workers foster
awareness of the disease and studying ways to change attitudes and
behavior towards those unfortunate enough to be infected. This project is open
to anyone who wants to share their love, time and compassion with the
HIV patients. There are no specific qualifications required to
volunteer.
Volunteer intervention is required and very welcomed to help care for the patients who have often been left out of the social circle due to their condition. Most of the persons living with HIV/AIDS receive care from the relatives mostly children of the patients at their own homes.
It always reminds us that we all as human beings have responsibilities for one another.
